RAID levels explained
A RAID level is simply a different way to spread data across multiple drives - a compromise between cost and speed. Understanding theses levels is very important in implementing your RAID, due to the fact that each level is optimized for a different use.

Here are some links that outline the most popular RAID levels available:
-: RAID 0 - Disk Striping.

-: RAID 1 - Disk Mirroring.

-: RAID 3 - Striping with dedicated parity drive.

-: RAID 5 - Disk Striping with distributed parity.

-: RAID 6 - Striping with double parity drive.

-: RAID 0+1 - Striping and Mirroring across multiple RAID levels.

-: RAID 1+0 (10) - Mirroring and Striping across multiple RAID levels.

-: RAID 30 - Striping across dedicated parity RAID systems.

-: RAID 50 - Mirroring and Striping across multiple RAID levels.
